Project History

1998-99:

  1. Publication and distribution of JESCOMEAO Network News, 3-4 times a year, with news of people, projects, training opportunities, technologies, and articles relating communications to theology, spirituality, and apostolic work.

  2. Production, exchange and distribution of audio/video/TV programs of regional interest and relevance.

  3. Media Training for Jesuit Scholastics, Brothers and lay colleagues.

  4. Regional TV Production Training.

  5. Workshops on marketing religious books and videos.

  6. Production of TV Programs for Mainland China.

  7. Continued exploratory efforts aimed at the reestablishment of an Asian Catholic Satellite TV Channel.

  8. Media training courses for Church leaders in Myanmar (with SIGNIS/Asia).

  9. Production of an international documentary on the situation of Asian migrant workers.

  10. Production of a documentary and related music video on poverty, aimed at Asian youth.

  11. Production, translation, and subtitling of an EAPI video lecture series for China, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

  12. Cooperative engagement in JCEAO projects such as, the JCEAO Publication and Website, and China think-tank.

1997:

  1. Asian Christian Television (ACT) satellite Channel in Thailand: program support and development until the channel's discontinuation in August 1997.

  2. Media Literacy workshops for the JESEAO's Secondary School Administrators' Program.

  3. TV production training for a Vietnamese Jesuit.

  4. Exploratory research on Church communications in Myanmar

1996:

  1. Asian Christian Television (ACT) satellite Channel established in Thailand. Inaugural broadcast in August 1996 followed by daily broadcasts 24 hours a day to Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.

  2. Training for Trainers video production course for Puskat staff in Yogyakarta (April 1996) to prepare for Puskat's first Asian Video Production Training Course (August -September 1996).

  3. Follow-up to the Asian Workshop on Marketing Religious Books and Videos: on-site consultation workshops by marketing expert in Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo (November 1996).

  4. Basic video production training for 2 Korean scholastics.

  5. Video series In the Footsteps of Francis Xavier televised in Indonesia. French adaptation completed. Distribution launched in Malaysia, Japan, India, Philippines, Canada, and Europe.

1995:

  1. Asian Workshop on Marketing Church Media Products, Tagaytay, Philippines; 26 participants, 9 countries; 8 participating Jesuit organizations.

  2. Collaboration on Jesuit regional Publication and JCEAO Internet Website.

  3. Video series In the Footsteps of Francis Xavier televised in Korea.

1994:

  1. Video report on the 1993 Jesuit Regional Scholastics Meeting completed and distributed to each Province and Region.

  2. Video series In the Footsteps of Francis Xavier, production completed and segments televised in Taiwan.

  3. Distribution of the Jesuit vocations video Wings of Freedom to each Province and Region.

1993:

  1. Scholastics' Training Course in Development Communications.

  2. Public Relations and the Church handbook.

  3. Production of Wings of Freedom, video on the international dimension of the Jesuit vocation (Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia).

  4. TV programs on Star TV Network Chinese Channel and local Shanghai channels.

1990-92:

  2. Communicating Justice Media Literacy workshop for EAJEC.
